San Sebastian del Oeste

Hello Candis,

Last year I went on vacation to Puerto Vallarta and had an opportunity to
visit San Sebastian del Oeste. As you mentioned, San Sebastian is a former
mining town and about an hour's drive from Puerto Vallarta. Until two

Vasquez in San Sebastian

I have not posted since my introduction when I joined a few months ago but since then I have ordered the film for my great-grandparent's marriage. They were married in San Diego De Alejandria, Jalisco. The film is very blurry and hard to read. My Spanish is also a little rusty but I was able to make out that my great-grandmother Cenorina Vasquez, daughter of Jose Eduviguez Vasquez and (it looks like) Demetina Vazquez, was from San Sabastian. I have not been able to find anything further. No baptism files, no marriage records from her parents. I don't even know where San Sebastian is. I had read an email from this group that San Sabastian was in someone's research. i can't find that email but does that someone happen to recognize these names or know where it is? Any information that anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

New Family Search Website Update

Im not supposed to be doing this but since I have made so many wonderful people here on ranchos, I couldnt keep this to myself. The new website isn't officially launched but is now functioning as Beta 2 or 3 is now starting. It's quite LONG! The new website can only be accessed my church members for now but to see if we can play around with it before it goes public.

researching records

I just wanted to tell the new members who are new to researching that after 10 years of researching I just did my first record of "hijos naturales." I'd stayed away from them because I felt it was sort of prying.. silly me! I"m working on 0439889 Jerez Zacatecas, hijos naturales and have found lots and lots of children listed as natural when their parents were actually married!

Mineral de Pinos and Mineral de Angeles

Helo Everyone!

I am trying to find out where two places are.
Mineral de Angeles is one, is this now Noria de Angeles or are they two different places?
The other is Mineral de Pinos. I know it must be in Pinos, Zacatecas, I just want to know where and if it has another name now.

Please Trim Your Messages

(Espanol sigue abajo)

I know this is an often repeated announcement around here, but since we have so many new members and the activity on the list has heated up, I figured I should repeat it.

Please, please trim your messages. When you reply to a posting via email, if you have your email set to include the message to which you are replying as part of the message, delete all but that part of the message which is necessary to provide context. Often nothing is necessary other than an appropriate subject for the reply message. When replies get posted online, they get posted along with the messages to which they are responding, so there is no need to repeat text. Such repetition makes the message very, very illegible.

Familia Bueno en Tlaltenango y Colotlan

If anybody has any Bueno or Lopez Bueno ancestors in Tlaltenango or Colotlan in the late 1600s or early 1700s I would greatly appreciate sharing any information you have.

I am stuck on a couple of lineages that I suspect are related but have very sparse data on both of them:

Pedro de Anda-Altamirano

Does anyone have more info on him or descend from this family. His was the son of the proignitor of the anda Surname in los Altos. I dont know who his father was though. He was born ca. 1565 en Guadalajara and married to Beatriz Gonzales de Castaneda.

Moderatorship in the NuestrosRanchos.com group can be work and also a
