Spanish Language Movies
Okay Joseph and Ranchos members,
Here are 8 netflix movies, they may be available at blockbuster too but I don't know that for a fact. I have selected them not only for their historical content but are above reproach and are appropriate for family viewing.
Zacatecas on film
I am aware that the following films were filmed in
Zacatecas:
"The Cisco Kid" (the one with Jimmy Smits and Cheech
Marin);
"The Old Gringo" (Gregory Peck, Jane Fonda - ?? - I
can't remember for sure)
Albums
I would like to invite all the members of the group to visit the Albums section of our site. There are very interesting and beautiful pictures in the albums. If you have not had a chance to visit this section yet, I suggest you plan to visit it the next time you find some free time (who 's got that?) to explore ALL of the albums. Consider adding your favorite pictures to the collection for the benefit and enjoyment of the group.

FYI, Streets of Laredo
My husband and I just finished watching Streets of Laredo, through Netflix.
It was an offshoot of the Lonesome Dove made for TV movie (1995)and it takes place in the wildwest days, mostly Texas/Mexico border. I couldn't help but think of the days when our ancestors came across the border and what trials they must have endured. Some people probably made it and some may have perished with the possibility that no one ever knew where their remains were or what could have happened to them. Those that did live probably had a very difficult life, Mexicans were on the bottom end of the food chain.
Mexican Nicknames
In an earlier message, Patricia brought up the topic of nicknames, which in Spanish are known as "apodos." She asked whether such nicknames were common among Mexican people. My answer would be a resounding yes.
Help
Help:
Does anybody out there knows an easy way to find a member's E-mail address so he (she) can be contacted directly?
I sure miss the "who is who" members directory from the old site...
Genealogly software
Have I guessed the correct forum for posting this message? I'm not very good at discerning into which forum to post certain inquiries or comments - so I just hope for the best.
Anyway - What genealogy software do you use? How would you evaluate it (i.e., what do you like/dislike about it)?

Fiestas de Mexico
Gracias to all member that responded favorable.
My project has taken me from prehispanic time to the present(1968-71). I have tried to incorporate several short stories "cuentos" and novels that has a "Fiesta" or celebration of somewhere within the drama/dialog. Some have a political overtone, but I feel strongly that the message must continue and that more mexicanos/hispanics/chicanos must be aware. I hope I don't offend or shock anyone. Thanks, Francisco.
