In the chapter of Gallegos in Retornos de Espana de la Nueva Galicia by Mariano Gonzalez Leal states that he could not find how Juan de Escobar and Beatriz de Gallegos gave rise to the name their son Hernando Martel took but that his son (no wife mentioned took the name Hernando Gallegos. There is mentioned that "los Gallegos mas antiquos extendidos en la region probably are descendants of of Hernando de Martel Alcade de Teocaltiche.
Has anyone found such proof or more information. He said the oldest families of Gallegos lived in Nochistlan since XVII
Mariano Gonzales Leal starts his research of a disconnected Gallegos with the family of Pedro Gonzales y Maria de Frias who had 3 children: Juana Martel married in Aguascalientes, 19 September 1813 to Miguel Sierra; Beatriz Gallegos (buried 4 Oct 1643 in Aguascalientes) married to Luis Gonzales; and Hernando Martel married 22 Oct 1634 in Aguascalientes, with Beatriz Retamosa or Villegas.
