Rancho de la Membrila, near Jocotepec

By Steve G. Apodaca - Posted on 02 February 2014

Hello, I'm hoping someone has researched or has some knowledge of the area around Jocotepec, Jalisco. I'm researching my Salazar ancestors from Zacoalco/Acatlan and on their children Jose Secundino Zalasar, baptized on July 6, 1806, was baptized in Jocotepec, and is mentioned to be born in "el rancho de la Membrila". I tried to google that name and did not come out with a lot of info. I even went to the pueblosamerica website, very helpful to find other villages' locations in the past, but there is no mention of this place "la Membrila". The closest thing I have found near Jocotepec is some cerro called cerro de la Membrilla and other place mentioned as potrero de la Membrilla, but no mention as of the location. Anyone familiar with the landscape near Jocotepec? I woud sure appreciate any help, since I like to pinpoint in the map any place associated with my ancestors.

Saludos

Steve in NC.
