Free Online Course on Experimental Genome Science

By rmromo - Posted on 01 October 2012

Thanks to the members of Nuestros Ranchos on the great information that you have personally provided me with regard to Y-DNA, genealogy, etc. (especially Armando A).

I just found out about a free online course on Genome Science being offered by Penn (Un. of Pennsylvania). The University course description is as follows:

>
Experimental Genome Science
John Hogenesch, John Isaac Murray (These are the two instructors)
"Each of our cells contains nearly identical copies of our genome, which provides instructions that allow us to develop and function. This course serves as an introduction to the main laboratory and theoretical aspects of genomics and is divided into themes: genomes, genetics, functional genomics, systems biology, single cell approaches, proteomics, and applications."

It sounds far too scientific for my liberal arts background but there may be some of you that will want to consider it. It begins October 15th and is 12 weeks long. It states that you will need to devote 6/8 hours of study per week. For those of you that sign up and complete the course they will provide you with a certificate upon completion. The web site is at: https://www.coursera.org/#course/genomescience
