Reply: Tejada 1850 Brick Wall
Hello Albert,
Francisca Tejada was one of my great-great grandmothers. I, too, have been
having difficulty finding information about her family. I do know that she
married Jesus Orendain prior to approximately 1945-1947, because my
great-grandmother, Hipolita Orendain, was born somewhere between 1945-1947.
Jesus Orendain may have been born in Spain (US census records suggest) but
I don't know about Francisca Tejada. (My American Indian DNA could have
come from the Medina side of the family.) Francisca moved to California
USA with her two young daughters after Jesus Orendain (who owned a silver
mine) passed away sometime around 1850. I do know of one family letter to
a Leonica (unclear word) Lopes y Tejeda (Tejada?) either sent to or from
Mazatlan in June, 1852. Much of the later family correspondence in the
1800's comes from Guadalajara, but those letters are all from Orendains.
Best of luck in your search. If I discover anything that might interest
you, I'll let you know.
Warm wishes,
Laurel Anne Hill
