With all of the new membership, it is worth repeating some basic guidlines that we would like members to follow when posting messages to the Nuestros Ranchos forums:

1. Make sure you post to the correct forum. There are some members who only want to be involved in serious genealogical research while others like the more general banter about genealogy software or the best pozole recipe. As such, please make sure you post to the lists as follows:

RESEARCH - Genealogy Research - This forum is reserved for posting of technical questions and answers related to genealogical research. Appropriate topics include discussions re: sources, document formats, paleography, etc.
GENERAL - History, Culture and General Discussion - This forum is for posting of topics that are not research questions, but are generally related to genealogy, history and culture of the region of Jalisco, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes
ANNOUNCE - Announcements and Events - This board is for posting of general announcements to the group as well as information about events and reunions.

2. Make sure you trim your messages when you reply. NEVER reply to a digest message without changing the subject line and deleting the string of messages or at least all of the messages except for the one to which you are responding. There is no need to leave the trail of previous messages from the discussion in your reply... they are already on the site. Please trim all but the most essential information necessary for reference or context.

3. Don't reply to a message about Subject A starting a new discussion on Subject B. The web site will group these messages together under the same topic even though they are not. When you start a new discussion, send a new message, not a reply.

Con todos los nuevos miembros, vale la pena repetir algunas reglas básicas que pedimos a la membresia seguir al enviar mensajes a los foros de Ranchos Nuestros:

1. Asegúrese de escribir en el foro correcto. Hay algunos miembros que sólo quieren estar involucrados en la investigación genealógica seria, mientras que a otrosno les molesta la discusion informal sobre sobre el software de genealogía o la mejor receta de pozole. Como tal, por favor, asegúrese de escribir en las listas de la siguiente manera:

RESEARCH - Investigación Genalógica - Este foro está reservado para el desplazamiento de preguntas y respuestas técnicas relacionadas con la investigación genealógica. Temas adecuados incluyen discusiones sobre fuentes, formatos de documento, la paleografía, etc
GENERAL - Historia y Cultura General Discussion - Este foro es el desplazamiento de los temas que no son preguntas de investigación, pero generalmente están relacionados a la genealogía, historia y cultura de la región de Jalisco, Zacatecas y Aguascalientes
ANNOUNCE - Anuncios y Eventos - Este consejo es para publicación de anuncios generales a los del grupo, así como información sobre eventos y reuniones.

2. Asegúrese de recortar sus mensajes al responder. Nunca responda a un mensaje de resumen, sin cambiar la línea de asunto y eliminar la cadena de mensajes o por lo menos todos los mensajes a excepción de aquel al que está respondiendo. No hay necesidad de dejar el rastro de todos los mensajes anteriores de la discusión en su respuesta ... que ya están en el sitio. Por favor, recorte todo, salvo la información esencial necesaria para referencia o contexto.

3. No responda a un mensaje sobre Tema A iniciando un nuevo debate sobre Tema B. El sitio web del grupo de estos mensajes juntos bajo el mismo tema a pesar de que no lo son. Al iniciar un nuevo tema, enviar un mensaje nuevo, no una respuesta.
