Lester,

I am confused. I found this website about several "Ruta de Plata"s in Europe and the New World. It has a map of the Mexican Ruta de Plata that goes from Mexico City northward to Santa Fe, and branches from Mexico City to the ports at Acapulco and Vera Cruz. It doesn't show the Ruta going to Nuevo Leon, only through the states of Guanajuato, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, Durango, Chihuahua, and ending in Santa Fe in New Mexico. The text only mentions mines and cities along the route through those states.

Was this route also known as the Camino Real? I know there are several Camino Reals. There was one in California where I once lived, I recall.

This site also has some photos, and the one that caught my attention was the one labeled "Zacatecas". It was taken in the late 1800s and shows a dead horse and armed soldiers sitting along the wall of a building. It doesn't' have an explanation or description of the photo, such as where and when it was taken. Interesting.
